{1st Day of Distro Day Out Updates}

Though I might have only attended the first of the two days of Distro Day Out event, which was organised by Prohibited Projects and The Substation, I really had a hell lot of fun there.

I and a few others were there representing Fathomless Depths, selling first and second hand punk music cds under different indie labels (contributed by Magua), Fathomless Depths' imported UK77 studs and tree spikes and someone's consignment cds. The latter, being second hand cds were unsellable due to the high prices (That is absolutely okay. It wasn't ours in the first place and it's a distro, consignment or not, who would want to pay more for a second hand cd?!). Magua's cds were the most sought after and he's a rich man now hehehehe!

The various products under different labels and distributions.
I was really hungry that day and the moment I saw cupcakes, I just grabbed one at a dollar. A dollar for a cupcake is actually pricey according to a few opinions but because I was hungry, I guess I had no other choice haha!
Metal merchandises.
Zines!
We booked a space far left of The Substation Gallery room and these are the stuff we were selling that time.
These were also put up at our spot too.
Flyers, zines and other free stuff.

They organised a few performances along the way.
The fruitful day finally came to an end. We packed up our stuff, helped out with the rubbish and we called it a day. I managed to buy 3 items above at less than $40. Good stuff!
There goes the first day of the Distro Day Out event which had been a memorable experience for me. I hope that there are more events like this in the future. And this is definitely not your typical flea market.

{Have you Ever Dream Of Becoming A Drummer?}

Yeah, I know.
This picture defeats the whole purpose.
But it was indeed taken from a drum school, Drumopolis.
If cages were to replace those, it will be like Jason Becker and Marty Friedman's (Cacophony) album cover.

Have you ever dream of wanting to become a drummer?
Have you ever thought of wanting to be a drummer so that you can play in a band?
Are a multi-instrumentalist - you want to add drumming in your list of music skills?
Are you planning to learn drumming to pursue a career as a part/full-time musician?
Do you hate open book theories and you prefer a more hands-on and practical approach on drumming?

Drumopolis offers a customized, one-on-one drum lessons to cater to each of the individual's learning capability, nevermind if you are a beginner, intermediate or advance, or whether you are young or old.
Drumming styles ranges from jazz to heavy metal.
A free 30-minute trial lesson is also available as well!

And it does not stop here!

You can go to Drumopolis for custom-made snare drum or drumset, because they are the authorized dealer for Stallion Custom Drums.

If you need cymbals, you go to Drumopolis too, because they are the local distributor of the Turkish brand Murat Diril Cymbals in Singapore.

This school has also officially launched guitar and bass lessons as well.

If you are interested in taking up a lesson, you may drop an e-mail to enquiries@drumopolis.com

You may also visit the shop at this address:
No 5, Coleman Street, #02-06, Excelsior Hotel/Shopping Centre, Singapore 179805

If you need more information on Drumopolis, you may visit the website at:

{Indulge #1}

Canadian Pizza Restaurant @ 242 Jalan Kayu, Singapore

My family and I went to this restaurant last Saturday for dinner and we not only savoured on a regular-sized Hawaiian pizza but also indulged in these set meal (below). I am not sure whether the restaurant is still new. I have tried searching for menus and location online but I could not find any at all. It is sandwiched between Thohirah Restaurant and Mad Jack.

The restaurant's setting is similar of that to Mad Jack and customers have the options to dine indoor or al fresco style. They used modern beach furnitures for their outdoor dining which really creates a rustic and laid-back atmosphere. I am satisfied with the customer service there as well : )

I didn't quite catch the name of the food especially the first two featured. I ordered myself a Macaroni Sausage (3rd pic).

{My Most Humble Collections #1}

The items that I have been anticipating for has reached me yesterday! Never have I received anything on a Sunday but because Chinese New Year is around the corner, the postal service company have decided to turn to the weekends to deliver items door-to-door to avoid delays coming up due to the festival and the long holiday periods.

Last December, without thinking twice, I went for the kill to get these 2 rare collector's items upon seeing a post from the The Official Ronnie James Dio Fan Page in Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1148757571954.23822.1618021437&type=1#!/OfficialRonnieJamesDio. I ended up buying an Elf Deluxe Limited Edition Numbered Picture Disc LP for myself and for my boyfriend, a 2XL Ronnie James Dio Memorial T-shirt with the "Long Live Rock 'N' Roll" logo at the back and featured on the front is an intricately sketched picture of Ronnie with the word R.I.P written at the bottom. As for the LP, I got mine at 0132 from a series of 2,500.

The back of the LP that features the whole band looks slightly 3D to me. There are also engravings on each side. The ones on the front has an engraving that reads, "Bob's Your Uncle" and the back as, "Sally's Your Aunt". They are very very interesting indeed. The moment I received the t-shirt, I got it wrapped neatly. I knew that I definitely cannot wait too long for any upcoming special occasions and so I gave it to my dearest as a very surprised gift on the day itself where he least expects it. I went to his music studio in the evening and I hid the gift in a very unlikely place and made him do treasure hunting. It was a very successful plan...Yay! When he saw the gift, how he felt after that was history.

I thought I had splurged my money unnecessarily on these but I realised that I have really made the right choice to invest on these collector's items. I am so grateful having to own these and I am grateful that my dearest, being a big Dio fan, gets to own a piece of Ronnie's t-shirt to himself and for himself to keep. We could still remember that time when Dio passed away from stomach cancer, it was absolutely the saddest day for all of the Heavy Metal community worldwide. R.I.P Dio and thank you so much for all the beautiful music you have made which has really influenced not only the old, but to the young listeners like me : )

So back to these rare stuff, they are only selling 2,500 limited copies of the Elf Deluxe Limited Edition Numbered Picture Disc LPs and the Ronnie James Dio Memorial t-shirts are still available in various sizes in their webstore.

100% of all proceeds from the sale of the t-shirt will go to the Cancer Research Fund.

I think a new webstore is currently in the work and no updates on the new link is given yet though, but you can still get them at http://www.officialronniejamesdiowebstore.com/

{Oppositional.Style #1}

The Fuss Free Style to wear on a cold weather.

Top? Neon-coloured tribal design on a soft grey cropped longsleeves top from Forever 21.
Dress? Brandless green tie dye square neckline sleeveless dress. It's a totally worn out dress which has withstand the test of time. I had been wearing this dress for many years, since during my primary school days, from when I was stick thin until this dress couldn't really fit me anymore. But thanks to the frequent alterations and modifications throughout the years and I am still able to fit into this. I'm sure that this crusty dress can endure another few years more. Crusty...
Tie dye dresses have been in the trend again today. Branded or non-branded, it doesn't matter. You can surely find one at any night bazaars/markets with a price at a steal, normally ranging from $10.00 to below $40.00.
Shoes? A seasoned 14 eyelets black Doc Martens for the kill!

Sugarhigh - Empire Records (No Dialogue Version)

Coyote Shivers - Sugarhigh
Soundtrack from Empire Records

This is one of the best soundtracks in Empire Records. It was contributed by Francis Coyote Shivers whom acted as himself in the movie as well. The song came out only during the last part where he performed on stage with Renée Zellweger. As for the movie - amateur you may call it, and their humours might not make sense at times but it is not as nonsensical and dumb as the teen flicks you see today! What is really refreshing was, they showcased alot of young actors/actresses in this movie, who then climb up the ladder to be international stars (read below). Though this movie did not make it as a box office hit, it managed to establish a cult classic status.

Renée Zellweger (Johnny Maguire, Bridget Jones's Diary, etc), Liv Tyler (Lord of the Rings Trilogy, etc), Johnny Whitworth (CSI: Miami & upcoming Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance), Ethan Embry (Can't Hardly Wait with Jennifer Love Hewitt?), Anthony Lapaglia (The Client, Happy Feet 1 & 2, etc), Robin Tunney (The Craft, Prison Break, The Mentalist, etc) and Rory Cochrane (Dazed and Confused, CSI: Miami, 24, Public Enemies, etc)...remember them anyone?

{Another Lovely 2011 Year-End Gift}

Sis just came back from France last week and she gave me this beautiful Ralph Lauren bag. It's a desert/khaki colour hand-carry canvas bag with leather pipings and trimmings. There is also a small pocket on the front with blue, green and yellow stripes on its side which then connects all the way to the handles. At the bottom centre is a blue embroidered Ralph Lauren trademark logo. I no longer go for branded stuff nowadays but because this bag (thankfully) is more of the masculine, messenger type, I am sure the bag is glad that it now belongs to the right owner. And I am also not one of those typical Singaporean girl who carries an LV around. The bag is big and it is definitely not a good idea for work at all but can be used as a light travelling bag instead. My sis bought it in France and so I would not know how much it cost since it is a surprise gift.

{2 Years On...}

Wow, I did not realised that it has been 2 years I never update my blog.

I guess I was too engrossed with work. Not like anyone will read my blog anyway, right?
Hello? Anyone? Anybody there? None at all I guess.

It is 2012 now, the year of the dragon.

Instead of over-relying in updating too much stuff on my Facebook, I think it is better that I make full use of my blog this time around. No point owning a blog if I leave it stagnant. I shall start my freedom of speech in my blog from now onwards.

The start to the new year has been going good so far and I hope that the globe spins slower this time so I don't need to worry about getting old too fast, aye?

I shall start by posting what I have posted in Facebook on the first month of 2012 and on the first week of January.

Remembering the late great Phil Lynott
20 August 1949 - 4 January 1986

Some of us who follows music closely would definitely be familiar with this Irish musician who was the founding member of this prominent Irish rock band, Thin Lizzy.

He also had a very brief stint in the 70's band, Skid Row with the late Gary Moore, Brendan "Brush" Shiels and Noel Bridgeman, a band who originally owned the name Skid Row before Moore sold it to Sebastian Bach for a hefty sum!

Unfortunately, I wasn't born in their era. And Phil's death date? I was born exactly in the year 1986, but in March! And I wasn't gifted with a super memory! But as I grew up, music plays a part in my life and thanks to the people I know, as well as my parent. You know how people back then loved to record anything in a VHS tape, right? My dad still keeps a few of them in the store room and I managed to dig out an old VHS tape containing the documentary of the old Skid Row. I still can't imagine how my dad could ever record this rare gem of a doc on a VHS!

That aside, and coming back to the present time, we realised that, we have already lost, not only Phil Lynott, but Gary Moore as well. Both are great musicians and not to forget the many others too. Rest in Peace to all of these respected musicians.

An Ideal Corporate Gift Recommendation:
Vie De Chats 2012 - L'Agenda - Calendrier

Agenda - Calendrier Vie de Chats 2012 is an agenda cum calendar book in French which is translated as Agenda - Calendar based on the Lives of Cats 2012. It is a hardcover book that my sis gave me for the new year. It consists of dates, days, months and inspirational quotes that are written mostly in French with note sections just like in any other agenda/yearly diary. It is such a sweet, simple and an ideal corporate gift and flipping through each of the adorable editorial photos of those felines are just enough to de-stress your mind off from those pressures you're facing at work. A great recommendation but I am not sure if this is sold in Singapore -_-

You can buy one in this website though:

My enemy bitter joy
The love doesn't have pity anymore
He is my enemy
But what hook can hurt him if
It will open the wound in us"
